General Description
Day 1:
We depart from Athens and after driving through the towns of Thebes, Levadia, and Arachova we arrive in Delphi, the most famous oracle of ancient times. We visit the archaeological site of Delphi, where we get the chance to see the Temple of Apollo, the Ancient Theatre, the Gymnasium, and the Archaeological Museum.
Then, we drive to Kalambaka, a lovely town at the foot of the rock complex of Meteora.
Dinner and overnight in Kalambaka.
Day 2:
In the morning, we visit the breathtaking Meteora, a huge rock complex with Byzantine Monasteries on top of the rocks. We enjoy the breathtaking view of the valley and the surrounding mountains.
We then depart from Kalambaka, drive through Thessaly and the valley of Tempi and arrive at the Archaeological Park of Dion, where Alexander the Great asked the blessing of Zeus to start his expedition to the East. Dion is located at the foot of Mount Olympus, which was, according to legend, the home of the ancient Greek Gods.
After the visit, we begin our trip to Thessaloniki, the second largest town in Greece.

Day 3:
We depart in the morning for a tour around historical Macedonia. Our first stop is Veria (Biblical Beroea), where we visit the Bema of Saint Paul and walk around the old Jewish quarter.
Our second stop is Naoussa. There, we visit Aristotle’s School, where the famous philosopher would teach Alexander the Great and other Macedonian youths. A few miles away is Edessa with its amazing waterfalls and Pella, the capital of the ancient Macedonian kingdom, with the 4th-century floor mosaics and the new museum.
We return to Thessaloniki for dinner and overnight.
Day 4:
We visit Thessaloniki and the impressive Roman and Byzantine monuments. We visit picturesque churches that date back to the Byzantine times and the Museum of Byzantine Culture, which was awarded the Council of Europe Museum Prize in 2005.
The rest of you’re free to explore the town.

Day 5:
In the morning, we arrive in Vergina, where we visit the Museum built in the Great Tumulus over the royal tombs of Macedonia. There, we get to see the golden findings from the excavations carried out at the tomb of King Phillip II, the father of Alexander the Great.
After our visit, we drive south through Thessaly, Lamia, Thermopylae (where we visit the Monument of Leonidas), and Thebes. We arrive in Athens in the late afternoon.

Note:
For the visit to Meteora Monasteries, ladies need to wear a long skirt and gentlemen long trousers. Those who stay on the coast will depart for their hotels around 19.15.
