The Museum of the History of Greek Costume sheds light on the lost fashions and arts of Greece. It was inaugurated in 1988 by the Lyceum Club of Greek Women, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Greek folk costumes from regions all over Greece and the Greek islands.

There are over 25,000 items collected in the Museum, including male and female costumes for all occasions (daily life, weddings, funerals, special celebrations), clocks, pieces of jewelry and other unique materials. These exhibits were collected throughout many years and mostly come from donations. The museum also takes an interest in research and documentation regarding Greek fashion from ancient until modern times. Some temporary exhibitions are also held.

The Museum of the History of Greek Costume is housed in a classical mansion in Kolonaki, close to Syntagma Square. Every year, since 1990, it has been publishing a desktop calendar with photos of Greek folk costumes and other pieces of traditional art.
