Sep 25, 2008 — Dec 20, 2008 • Category: Events
President Karolos Papoulias and his Italian counterpart Giorgio Napolitano jointly inaugurated the exhibition "From Tiziano to Pietro da Cortona" at the Museum of Cycladic Art on Wednesday afternoon and were then given a guided tour of the exhibition.
Culture Minister Mihalis Liapis said in his address that "few are aware that the Tiziano exhibition was the dream of a great Greek woman, a visionary: Dolly Goulandris, which unfortunately she did not have time to see implemented."
The exhibition will last to December 20 and it aims to present to the Greek public the evolution of the artistic indagation in Italy during the 16th and the 17th centuries, from the art of Tiziano to the reflections of Annibale Carracci for the Venetian art of painting, as well as the inquiries of Pietro da Cortona.
The exhibition is accompanied by a trilingual catalog of the exhibition's artworks (Greek, Italian, English).
