Jun 01, 2010 — Jun 05, 2010 • Category: Events
During the last few years, the love and passion for the Argentine Tango has taken over the audience of Athens and someone could say that it was just the right time to have an official tango contest for professionals and amateurs. The Tango Acropolis gives us a great opportunity to enjoy a five-day festival with workshops, exhibitions, fashion shows, dance events and fantastic concerts from the orchestra of Argentina. In this upcoming event, the passion of the Argentine people and the enduring spirit of the Greek culture become one. This festival aims to promote this magnificent and intriguing dance to the Greek audience and show people how tango can help you overcome yourself. The winners will be awarded with the Tango Acropolis title as they can also participate to the Semifinal of Mundial de Tango which will be held in Buenos Aires in August 2011. The festival will begin on the 1st of June with a spectacular tango dance in Syntagma Square where all the people will have the chance to watch. Various exhibitions will be hosted during the following days while there will be a fashion show with loud music and a lot of dancing. Those who wish to try some of the tango moves or show their dance skills, the festival will have free tango lessons not only for adults but for children as well. The Tango Acropolis Festival will take place in Zappeion Megaron from June 1st-5th. It will remain open from 10:00 until late at night. There is free entrance for children until the age of 13.
