New generation of artists present their work

Oct 24, 2013 — Dec 31, 2013 • Category: Events

The National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens presents a group exhibition of young artists entitled Afresh, A new generation of Greek artists until December 31st, 2013. This exhibition is the result of a systematic research for about two years in order to collect material from approximately 1,000 portfolios of Greek artists. Born in the 1980s (from 1979 to 1990), the 34 new artists have just completed their studies and started their first professional steps in Greece and abroad.

Therefore, they pose new queries and give a new insight to the future, exploring the new conditions on economy, production, work, sustainability, self-sufficiency and alternative ways of living. Shaped by digital technology, this young generation uses new artistic forms to express themselves. More than 60 works of art are displayed in the exhibition, including drawings, videos, performances, sound installations and paintings.
