Exhibition for 100 years since Elytis birth

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary since the birth of the Greek Nobelist poet Odysseas Elytis, Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts & Music took the initiative to organize for the first time to wide public an exhibition entitled The world of Odysseas Elytis. Documents, manuscripts, rare editions and photos of the great poet comprise the biggest part of this important exhibition. The original works of the poet will be presented at the end of September.

On the date of Odysseas Elitis birthday, November 2nd and the next day as well, an event of poetry, visuals and music will be presented to the audience. Mrs Eliopoulos will read Elytis poems accompanied with music by Giorgos Kouroumpou.

The exhibition has two sections, the first section includes art works made by famous artists to whom the poet was closely related, and the second section presents interesting sculptures and paintings of notable Greek artists who were greatly inspired by Elytis. The displaying pieces of art are on loan from Benaki Museum, National Gallery and from many other private collections.
