Evolution journey of Athens through photos

The photo exhibition Metamorphoses of Athens: A Photographic Itinerary 1839-1950 takes place at the new building of Herakleidon Museum in Thissio, Athens. The museum is celebrating its 10th anniversary, offering a tribute to the city of Athens with this exhibition of rare archive material that shows the development of the city in the last 180 years, after it was made the capital of Greece.
The new building of Herakleidon Museum can be easily accessed, as it is situated really close to Thissio metro station. The exhibition has already opened and will be held until late January 2015.
The exhibition helps visitors visualize the development and change of the Greek capital through the years with more than a hundred authentic photos of important landmarks, large public buildings, and panoramic views of Athens. The exhibition also features old cameras and seven stereoscopes. The final part of the exhibition is a collection of contemporary photographs of Athens.
