European Music Day 2011

In just a few years time since its establishment, the European Music Day has become a great cultural event in many countries around Europe, from Ireland to Kazakhstan and from the Baltic countries to Cyprus. This year, a music celebration will be held in the gardens of Athens Concert Hall on June 21st to honor the day. At the same day, the Athenaeum Theatre and Performing Arts Center will host the Attika Orchestra. As two of the most important cultural centers of Athens will contribute to this European event, the Athenians will have the chance to enjoy several musicians on stage.

The pedestrian path along Adrianou street will be transformed into an open-air stage with jazz melodies and Greek soundtracks. With over 100 performances taking place in many venues around Athens, this music event that lasts from June 19th-23rd will cater for all musical tastes from rock to electro hip-hop. Athens will span a full three days event making the European Music Day a large celebration. There will be stages in many neighborhoods, including Technopolis, Asomaton square, Varnava square, Syntagma, Klafthmonos square and the French Institute. Musical concerts and other events will also take place in many towns around Greece.
