Conferences: People with Disabilities and Mass Media

The SGC-SGI is holding a series of "People with Disabilities and Mass Media" events throughout Greece, promoting the inclusion of disabled people. The first one took place in Thessaloniki (March 5th), two other significant events will take place in June. The Secretariat General of Communication - Secretariat General of Information, on the initiative of Minister of State Theodoros Roussopoulos, organises for the third year in a row the 3rd International Conference People with disabilities and Mass Media. The Conference will take place on 23-24 June 2008, at the press centre of the SGC-SGI building (Frangoudi 11 & Al. Pantou, Kallithea). The 2nd Emotion Pictures International Documentary Festival on Disability will be held between 21-23 June 2008, at the New Benaki Museum for Contemporary Art and Design (138 Piraeus Street, Athens). The aims and objectives of the festival are the use of documentary films as a medium that puts on the map issues of disability by artists form around the world and walks of life; to increase public awareness and promote the inclusion of disabled people, whilst further encouraging the media and film-makers, disabled or not, to take an active interest in this area and address the widest possible public.
