Athens Digital Arts Festival

May 19, 2016 — May 23, 2016 • Category: Events

The Athens Digital Arts Festival is important annual festival that is taking place every year in Athens and focuses on the themes that rise from the influences of digitalism on art and the notions of digital pop and digital culture. Until now, it has been realized under the name of Video Art Festival while this year, the term digital arts has been considered as more complete and representative of its culture. This year, there will also be a special section dedicated to kids called ADAF KIDS, including various screenings and workshops for kids. Apart from mere visual pleasure and stimulus from the interactive media, the festival aims to create a debate around the way we perceive and manipulate our everyday digital lives in relation to reality and how art can react to this communication.
This year, the festival will take place from the 19th until the 23rd of May and will include a series of presentations, installations and meetings with artists and other important people from the arts industry who will talk, perform, innovate and create. The festival includes many workshops, talks, screenings and other art-related events and parallel projects, thus making it a very creative way to bring people closer to the visual arts and make them reconsider their views about the values and principles of our modern digital art. Important references to ideas of Andy Warhol and other important contemporary pop artists are made through the works.
