Athens and Epidaurus Festival

Jun 01, 2008 — Aug 23, 2008 • Category: Events

The Athens and Epidaurus Festival, one of Europe's largest summer festivals and a favorite among audiences and critics alike, is underway. The Festival runs already from June and it will last till August, taking place in several venues: The ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, Odeon of Herodes Atticus, new venues Peiraios 260 and Scholeion, the Athens Concert Hall, as well as the mobile Caravan Theatre which takes the Festival to the streets.
The Festival highlights the work of young artists, presents contemporary trends in dance, music and theatre and intends to fall in line with the major European festivals of this kind. Its purpose is well achieved by now, as last year's Festival was described as a vibrant arts experience by the New York Times.
