On April 26th, 2015, the 6th Poseidon Athens Half Marathon is taking place in the beautiful bay of Faliro in Athens. This athletic event has a special target: to make people sensitive and raise their awareness on diabetes and obesity, two major problems in modern society. With the inspiring phrase Everyone's a winner as moto, the event welcomes participants to enjoy their walk or run along the coastline of Faliro, while passing through some of the most beautiful spots in the area.
The Poseidon Athens Half Marathon is organized and supported by the Municipality of Palaio Faliro, the Hellenic Association of Mass Popular Sports & Ultra Running Clubs, the European Federation Sports for All and the Hellenic Diabetes Association, and includes several other races besides the Half Marathon. Specifically, there will be a Relay Race, a Quarter Marathon, a Youth Run, a Fun Run, a Power Walking Race, which includes a specially designed route for blind people, and many more.
All races follow a similar route along the seashore and finish at the Cultural and Sports Centre of the Municipality of Palaio Faliro. Sporting enthusiasts can enjoy jogging, walking and cycling through the amazing sights of Flisvos Marina. The highlights of the races include the Nautical Tradition Park, the Water Plaza, Averof Battleship, the trireme Olympias, and the Peace and Friendship Stadium.
Participants are also welcome to join other parallel events, such as the Music Marathon by the Sea, the Volunteering Society activities and many entertaining activities for kids. Registrations until April 12th, 2015.
