40th Zappeion Book Fair

On the occasion of the 40th celebration of Zappeion Book Fair, this year's organization is dedicated to the European Year of Volunteering that will include a memoir on the "Banned books-magazines and newspapers during the period of Greek dictatorship 1967-1974" and "Yuri Gagarin 1961- 2011, 50 years after the first flight of the man in space". This 30th Book Fair will take place in the courtyard of Zappeion starting from Friday, September 2nd to Sunday, September 18th. About 150 publishers and 120 kiosks will be there to display around 50,000 book titles of all the modern publishing companies.

The renowned artist Alexis Veroukas created an art work that was used as the main poster of this year's book exhibition. Most importantly, due to the European Year of Volunteering, the Book Publishers Association, in cooperation with the Children's Hospital Aglaia Kyriakou, organize blood donation for the children diagnosed with Mediterranean anemia, on Sunday September 4th from 10:00 to 14:00.
