34th Athens Book Fair starts in Zappeion
May 13, 2011 — May 29, 2011 • Category: Events
A book is a great company and a powerful source of knowledge. This is the moto of this year's Book Fair that will take place in the courtyard of Zappeion Megaron, Syntagma Athens, from May 13th until May 29th, 2011.
The Book Fair will host books from 110 publishing companies and there will be special tributes to poet Odysseas Elytis and novelist Alexandros Papadiamantis, two of the most interesting Greek literary figures. Visitors of this exhibition will have the opportunity to browse through the books and enjoy many of the cultural events, like theatrical plays for children, cooking shows, book presentations, speeches, live concerts, photo exhibitions and reading games. The audience will also have the chance to watch interesting documentaries.
Moreover, for the first time publishing companies will gather a large number of books and will donate them to the libraries of the remote islands of Leros and Lipsi.
The 34th Book Fair is organised by the Association of Book Publishers of Athens in collaboration with the City of Athens Cultural Organisation.
