The Museum of Cycladic Art, in cooperation with the Onassis Foundation and the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, is organizing an exhibition entitled Beyond: Death and Afterlife in Ancient Greece. The exhibition will be held from December 11th, 2014 - February 8th, 2015. The theme of the exhibition is the fate of the immortal soul after the death of the mortal body, a question that has troubled humans for many centuries and still continues to concern the human mind.

This exhibition of 120 showpieces from 21 Greek and international museums takes us on a journey through different approaches to death and immortality in ancient Greece. Visitors will learn about Homer's thoughts on the afterlife, but they will also explore Plato's view of the immortal, pure soul. The exhibition consists of 5 parts: the Moment of Death, Burial Customs, Homeric Hades, Bacchic-Orphic Hades and Platonic Hades.
