One and a half year after its opening, as a department of the Athens Benaki Museum, the Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika Gallery is holding its first ever temporary exhibition entitled Folk toys at the house of Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika. The exhibition focuses on childhood and will remain open to the public until March 9th, 2014.

The exhibition is a small tribute to this important artist who dominated the 20th century in Greece. Drawings by Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika (1906-1994), some known, some never seen before, will be featured in an environment that will charm children and will make adults feel nostalgic. The drawings focus on folk toys and old games, many of which are no longer used. The works have been gathered by the collection of the Ghika Gallery and from private collections.

The Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika Gallery is housed in a building of the 1930s, that was donated to the Benaki Museum by the artist himself, while he was still alive. It is located in Kolonaki, in the centre of Athens and only few min walk from Syntagma Square. The building opened to the public in 2012 after it was restored.

Where: Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika Gallery, Kriezoti str 3, Kolonaki
When: Wednesday-Sunday 10:00-18:00
