Karavitis was actually the name of a virtuoso who played the lyra and was born in Crete in 1904. The owners opened the restaurant many years ago in the beautiful area of Pagrati near the Panathenaic Stadium. It is definitely not a tourist spot but a traditional Greek tavern with simple decoration of wine barrels lined up to create a type of bar.
There is no doubt that the secret of Karavitis is the original food and the pure products. It serves excellent fava, meatballs and fresh Greek salads. This is a great place to hang out with your friends.
