Athens International Dancing Festival: The Athens International Dancing Festival opened for the first time in 2003 and today it has become one of the most prominent international events in Greece. The festival is held under the aegis of the Cultural Organization of Athens and is usually held at the Technopolis Arts Complex in the first two weeks of July.
The festival aims to promote new talents and to provide young aspiring artists with an opportunity to perform on an international scene. Every year, Greek and foreign dance troupes present their best and latest repertoire to a highly estimated audience. In addition, the festival always holds a series of parallel events which include two photo exhibitions of dance images and an open stage in which contemporary Greek artists are allowed to present their work.
Another interesting feature of the festival is the series of seminars conducted by renowned choreographers. Graduates of dance schools and professionals attend these seminars to gain valuable insight into the subtle nuances of the art form. The festival concludes with a magnificent costume show featuring well-known Greek actors and dancers in costumes designed by famous designers for theater and dance productions.
