Athens Omonia Neighbourhood
Omonia Athens: If you proceed towards Athinas street from the Marketplace you will come across Omonia square, which is the oldest square in Athens. The square is bounded with few restaurants, hotels and shops.
Many years back, Omonia square was renowned for its beauty and today, if you follow the stairs right to the metro station you can see photographs from the past. Unfortunately, the square was one of the places that gradually became inapproachable due to the chaotic traffic. Still, it is an integral part of the city centre despite the present conditions.
During the day, you might see young artists performing in the middle of the square, Athenians having their morning coffee and others rushing to catch the metro. Omonia is a multicultural spot with many contradictions. Closeby there are many shops, cozy cafes and restaurants, Greek taverns and bars.
