More about: Pelion
Some friends of ours had told us so many good things about the peninsula of Pelion that we decided to go there during June 2003. We arrived in Athens, rented a car from there and drove all the way to Volos (about 4 hours); then we drove 30 minutes to the village of Makrinitsa which is a wonderful place in the mountains, with beautiful houses in stones and slates; it looks like a medieval place and the main square has a huge tree in its middle as well as a beautiful fountain. Then we drove an hour or two until the wonderful village called Tzagarada where we found a studio which was in a superb traditional house; everything was perfect and we had a magnificent view over the sea. The beaches from the village were about 20 minutes away (by car); they were sandy, with turquoise waters and shadowed by various trees. We found Pelion a wonderful place because it combines mountains and sea in a unique way.
