There are buses from Volos, the closest largest town, to almost all the villages of Pelion. Certainly there are buses to the most tourist places, like Makrinitsa, Portaria, Zagoria, Tsagarada, Milies, Milina and Platanias.
The most convenient way to get around Pelion is by car. If you do not come to Pelion with a private car, there are few car rental agencies in Volos. Renting a motorbike to explore all Pelion would be difficult because distances are large. However, the motorbike would be nice to cover small distances.
There are many taxis in Volos and few taxis in the tourist places of Pelion, like Milina, Platanias, Milies, Zagora and Afyssos. It is unlikely that you will find taxi ranks in the villages of Pelion, so if you need a taxi, you must call one.
In summer weekends, a steam train makes routes from Milies to Ano Lehonia with return. This train first worked in the early 20th century and today works only for tourist reasons.
