Komboloi.
The Komboloi Museum in Portaria has on display and sale a wide variety of Komboloi -as they are popularly known- or worry-beads or prayer-beads. The Museum caters to the connoisseur komboloi collectors. It works in association with the komboloi museum in Nafplion and it is here that the traditional worry-beads are created using the knowledge and expertise handed down through generations.
Komboloi made of different materials such as amber, bone, misteka, faturan amber and ivory are available for purchase at the Museum in Portaria. No visitor leaves the Komboloi Museum without finding a string of their choice. The book titled "The Komboloi and its History" is also available on sale at the Museum which is a must-read for those interested in the history and beauty of simple and everyday objects.
The Museum is open throughout the year.
The quality and selection of the Komboloi at the Museum are a treat for any visitor to Portaria, one of the most beautiful and popular villages in the entire Pelion region of Central Greece.

"Komboloi Museum" is located in the beautiful mountainous village of Portaria, which is a picturesque location with lush green landscape, spring waters, cobble-stoned pathways and quaint old mansions. Komboloi Museum in Portaria is now housed in a building that was previously the "Old Portaria Bakery".
