The Folklore Museum of Makrinitsa in Pelion: Above the central square of Makrinitsa, one of the most picturesque villages of central Pelion, there is an interesting Folklore Museum housed in an elegant mansion with typical architecture of Pelion.

The mansion was originally constructed in 1844 and belonged to the Topali family. In 1932, the family donated this mansion to the municipality of Makrinitsa in order to house the Museum of Folk Art and History of Pelion. In the following decades, the museum was renovated and today it hosts a large folk collection with more than 1,500 items, including traditional costumes, old photographs, rare manuscripts, historical pieces, kitchen vessels and items of daily use.

Moreover, many rooms of the museum have been furnished with traditional furniture and present rooms as they were in the old times. The mansion resembles a fortress, with wooden window shuts and no balconies. It offers an amazing view to the port of Volos and the mountainsides of Pelion.
