The complex was built in 1989 by its owner, an architect. It stands on the site of an old olive press which belonged to the owner's family, in the centre of Horefto, 20 metres from the sea. The original philosophy underlying the design of the complex was to construct dwellings for 2 to 5 individuals - simple, functional and built to high aesthetic standards - which would give the visitor the sense that he is not staying in a conventional hotel but rather in a more intimate setting, hospitable and designed with its own individual sense of aesthetics.
