Meteora Monastery of Agia TriadaThe Monastery of Agia Triada in Meteora: The historical monastery of Agia Triada, meaning the Holy Trinity, has been built on top of a rock in Meteora. It was built around the 12th century by monks seeking refugee from the invading Turkish troops. This monastery occupies the most spectacular position among the six monasteries of Meteora. Visitors can reach the top of the monastery by climbing some 140 steep steps.

There is at present only one occupant in the monastery, a monk who acts as a guide when visitors arrive. The monastery consists of a church, a refectory, a courtyard and a few guesthouses.

Visitors can still see the winch system with ropes and baskets that was once used to transport people and supplies to the top of the monastery and back.

If you are a cinema-lover, you will recognize the setting as the climax scene of the James Bond movie "For your eyes only" was filmed there.
