Kastraki village Nafpaktos: The village of Kastraki is at 6 km far from the town of Nafpaktos, the capital of Nafpaktia, and counts on 782 inhabitants. It is built on the remains of the ancient city of Efpalio. At present, the municipality of Efpalio consists of sixteen communities, among which Kastraki village is inluded.

Therefore, the picturesque village of Kastraki gives visitors the chance of combining this location to the other villages in the surrounding areas. Some of these areas to visit are the beaches on the Corinthian Gulf, such as the one of Chiliadou, with anchoring facilities for small yatchs, as well as the beautiful bays of Monastiraki and Skaloma.

The surrounding mountainous areas on Nafpaktia deserve a visit, as they host lush vegetation -oak, plane chestnut and fir trees among others- and many varieties of animals - foxes, roes, wild boars, wolfs, ferrets, hares, squirrels, and many types of birds.
 
In addition, on the mountains of Nafpaktia there are 60 villages, many of which can also be visited. However, the village of Kastraki has its own places of interest, like the Byzantine monastery of Panagia Varnakova, dating from the late 10th century.

Another important monastery is that of Agios Ioannis, which is found on Efpalio, more especifically in the area of Platanitsa, near Kastraki. This building reflects the great Byzantine style and counts on many artistic details. In the present, it continues being used for religious events. Regarding the buildings of our times, we can mention the monasteries of Trikorfo, which counts on hundreds of bells, and host a monk musical group called "Paparokades".

The village of Kastraki has some popularity as a suitable place for spending vacations or even for a permanent stay. In fact, the selling of terrains is very common in this area. The green and relaxing environment it provides result very appealing for those seeking for peace and nature.
