 Nafpaktos is located on the southeastern coast of Etoloakarnania Prefecture, near the borders with the prefecture of Fokida, at the region of Sterea Ellada. Its neibouring prefectures are Arta on the North, Evrytania North-East, and Fokida on the East. It is the administrative and economic center of the Municipality of Nafpaktia and counts on approximately 13.000 residents.
