Aspous village Skyros: Aspous village is a small coastal hamlet which remains true to the traditions of Skyros Island, and offers a pleasant region for a long relaxed vacation, located in the north coast of the central ‘neck’ of Skyros island. As you approach the village, the blend of the countryside, the low half bare hills, the vast blue sea and open skies reminds you of an Irish countryside.
The curvy bay has a small stretch of a sandy beach in the middle. It is lined with hospitable taverns and typical cubic apartments for rent. There are no water sports but you can rent floats from the taverns.
The east side is a small hilly peninsula that extends long into the sea. You can walk along the pavement to the fishing jetty as well as the Agios Nikolaos chapel, a small whitewashed structure sitting by the blue water. The best activity here is to stroll around the countryside taking in the lovely sceneries. Visit the local ceramic makers who still use the traditional methods. Walk up the hillside to the Prophet Elias church which has a worthy panoramic view. |
