The
architectural characteristics of Skopelos consists of houses built in an amphitheatrically, very close
to one another, painted in white with red clay roof tiles
and little flower gardens.
Some very old two-storey and three-storey Venetian houses
built of stone can still be admired and are kept in good
condition.
The
newer houses have been influenced by the architecture
of Thessaly and Macedonia, standing in harmony with the

houses, having in common their balconies, their
verandas and their flowered courtyards.
All those beautiful houses are surrounded
by narrow stone built alleys, arcades full of purple bougainvillea,
and whitewashed climbing steps.
The
whole image is extremely beautiful and traditional, with
a strong character and will charm even the most demanding
visitor.
Those beautiful architectural |

marvels the Byzantine Monuments, the islands churches, coexist harmoniously with the houses and the fountains,
in the same colours and style with all the other composite
