The trip: I arrived on the island by car and then by boat with Hellenic Seaways. The trip was good but the boat was delayed. The staff can be a little friendlier
Reasons for going to Skiathos Recommended by friends
Idea of the island/area before arriving: I heard it is a green island with sandy beaches , comparing with the southern ones ( I have been in Paros , Mykonos , Santorini ) which are more " desert " like .
Best Beaches: Vromolimnos
Best Villages: Main City
Best Bar/Pub/Club All were OK
Anything negative about the island or needs improvement: Probably because the Greek territory gets "invaded" by so many foreign tourists , especially in the high season , the staff is not so friendly and hospitable as it should be in an area which has a great income coming out of mainly tourist activities. Also some locals are a little bit xenophobic, and treat the tourists dividing them into Greeks and non-Greeks. They should be more grateful and realize they are gifted with such a beautiful country / they need tourists as most of Greece GDP is made out of tourism. Sometimes the owner of the hotel/restaurant is trying to ?squeeze? the tourists and it gives the impression that he cares too much about the money and less about service . I am not talking about all tourist resorts. You should use an ISLAND COMMENT CARD to improve the hospitability level. When I am talking about local people I mean the owners of the hotels/villas, the restaurant and bars staff
Recommendations: Sometimes the hotels / villas are pictured very nice on the net, but in reality they are not like in pictures. Use the method of finding out where the best places on the island are from people who have been before on the island
Rate of the overall quality/organization/services of this island/area in comparison with other countries: 8/10.
