We have been there in the past and we love Skiathos. Our hotel was in Koukounaries and this is probably the only complaint we have, because the hotel was generally run down and not a 4 star as advertised. In general, pay attention when you book a hotel in Greece because most of them do not pay the international standards. They seem to have their own rules, which can confusing for foreign tourists. Skiathos is a beautiful island and has amazing landscapes. Green prevails on all the other colours. Koukounaries and Banana were the best beaches, we spend most our days there. In Koukounaries, there is a fun beach bar and the bartender makes unbelievable sunrise cocktails! The town is nice but only for a visit. Do not stay there, you will miss all the beautiful nature of Skiathos, except if you want to be close to the port. Plus the town is very busy and noisy in summer.
