I had a wonderful experience on Skiathos, especially as it coincided with the premiering of the movie Mamma Mia (you know that some scenes have been filmed on these two islands, right? Actually. I believe it is a shame that Hollywood doesn't shoot more films in Greece and the Mediterranean... They provide prefect settings for every occasion). Skiathos is a heaven for a family visit. The island is very well geared for tourists. I was mainly attracted by the beautiful beaches, especially Banana Beach which I believe is the most beautiful of all beaches. I was also very happy to see Evangelistra Monastery. The town of Skiathos itself is very nice, clean and offers a lot of fancy restaurants and tourist shops. The church with the clock tower was a very nice experience when you are up there. Plan your trip to Skiathos well before hand. Make sure you talk to the hotel before you go and ensure they have all the amenities you need and good water pressure in the shower. Avoid adding breakfast in hotels because it is not good value for the money.
