:: The old Capital
The old capital of the island is called Hora. It is a
charming little village composed of cubic white painted
houses in narrow paved alleys. Hora is situated 4 km away
from the village of Patitiri and is located on the top
of a hill. The village is offering a panoramic view over
the Skopelos and the Aegean Sea. The reasons of its location
were the fear of the many pirates’ raids.
Unfortunately, the village was destroyed in 1965 after
a terrible earthquake which destroyed all the area. All
the inhabitants left their houses and settled in a village
by the sea, Patitiri, which became the new capital. Today
Hora offers many nice taverns and cafes...

:: Beaches
Alonissos
is known for its beautiful beaches with emerald crystal
waters which are located in charming bays surrounded by
marble formations and pines. The area has the reputation
to have the cleanest waters in the Aegean Sea. It is the
reason why a rare species of monk Seal, the Monachus Monachus,
has settled there, in a protected marine park. Most of
the beaches have been preserved in the natural aspect
and only a few of them are organised…

:: An
active Nightlife
Alonissos has a variety of nice taverns, cafes, and bars in
Patitiri
and Old Alonissos. Unbelievably good taverns
can be found on the road starting from the
harbour and going to the north; on it is the
excellent tavern called To Kamaki with heavenly
tasting dishes and another one called Kala
Krassia.
