Visitors have no need to wonder why Alonissos waters have been declared a marine park – they are the cleanest waters in the Aegean Sea, and the underwater caves are an ideal breeding place for monk seals and other endangered species.

But apart from spending a nice day beach, Agios Petros offers some other advantages for tourists, such as being just a 15 minute walk from the picturesque fishing village of Steni Vala, with plenty of taverns serving delicious traditional fish based dishes. There is a small supermarket, too, where you can purchase some provisions for the long day beach. There is a regular bus service connecting Steni Vala to other villages. Those who are fond of fishing can rent a boat in Agios Petros or in Steni Vala Village.
