Saronic Villages

Saronic villages

Information about the Villages of Saronic islands, in Greece but also information about villages in many islands of the group: The Saronic islands are the closest islands to Athens, easily reachable in 1 or 2 hours by ferry from the port of Piraeus. The good thing about these islands is that each one has different architecture and character, therefore the Saronic villages are much different one from the other.

The Saronic villagesin the island of Aegina have Neoclassical and modern features. The most traditional villages of Aegina are found in the inland, while the seaside villages have a more tourist aspect. The villages of Agistri have modern, tourist-orientated settlements, without losing their natural beauty.

Hydra Town is among the most beautiful Saronic villages. Built amphitheatrically around a port, Hydra has elegant grey stone mansions that mostly date from the 17th and the 18th century. Poros Town has the same look as it is also built amphitheatrically on the slopes of a hill, but its houses have white houses and red-tiled roofs.

On the other side, the town of Spetses is more flat and spreads between the old and the new port. With elegant Venetian mansions, paved paths and a large beach promenade, Spetses Town attracts visitors from first sight.

The best villages in Saronic islands are: Hydra town, Aegina town, Megalochori in Agistri, Kaminia in Hydra, Poros town, Spetses town and more.
