Spetses
produces excellent honey made of the pine trees’ resin;
it has an excellent taste, pine-flavoured and a dark,
copper-like colour.
The island also has a wide range of fruits and vegetables
such as raisin, citrus, olives, tomatoes, etc...
Fresh fish is excellent and can be found in almost every
local tavern. A local speciality with fresh fish fillets is fish a la Spetsiota.
One has to try the famous amigdalota of Spetses, the
mouth-watering almonds sweets that can be found in every
local bakery; they can also be found in the other Argo-Saronic
islands but those of Spetses are particularly excellent
for they are made with almonds, honey, flower water
and sugar.
