Villages: Galatas village in Poros |
Galatas Village Poros: The sister-town of Poros, Galatas is located only a few hundred meters from Poros island, connected frequently by small taxi boats which travel between both towns 24 hours in a day. Galatas is also accessible from Athens, being only 180 kilometers from the airport and requires you to pass over the Corinth Canal on the way. Providing a magnificent view of Poros from its beautiful water front, Galatas is fast becoming an independent town, with its own mayor and council.
Equipped with numerous cafes, restaurants and bars, Galatas town is a tourist’s delight. Though not as developed as Poros, Galatas town has its own rustic charm, which is more traditional Greek, compared to Poros. Agriculture is still a major industry, with people growing mostly olives and citrus fruits. The foreign labor population is high in these parts as there are also a few small industry units. |
