The architecture of Poros is similar to the one of Skopelos and Skiathos (Sporades), and is not the typical Cycladic architecture, usually associated with the Greek islands.
Most of the buildings in Poros are neoclassical, with two storeys, terracotta-tiled roofs, long coloured windows and doors, whitewashed or bright coloured walls, balconies and pottery-decoration which embellish the front of their roof.

The streets are narrow, stone paved and whitewashed, giving to the settlements the aspect of a labyrinth.
The town and the villages are built amphitheatrically, overlooking the sea.
Many churches are scattered around the island, adding beauty to the architecture; churches, monasteries and chapels are painted in white, with round domes sometimes coloured or covered with red tiles. |

Some very good samples of the local neoclassical architecture are the Deimezi building, which is made of fine grey and red stone, the splendid shop of Grivas which has wide door and a very beautifully decorated interior, and the superb Villa Galini which is one of the most beautiful houses of Poros and has hosted various famous Greek and international personalities of Art and Litterature. |
