Hydra is a little jewel embellishing the Argo-Saronic. It has a cosmopolitan aspect due to its high popularity in the sixties, when many artists and actors were having there holidays there. Nowadays it has lost a bit of its glamour and has become a bit too popular for my taste but I still enjoy going there for a few days and rest my eyes and soul with its charm and beauty. Even if it has changed a lot now, it is still very attractive and I?m sure you will be charmed too by this little place. The beauty and popularity of this island is due to its capital and only town which is full of neo-classical mansions with coloured doors, balustrades, shutters and loggia walls. The serpentine alleys are tempting you to walk for hours. Everywhere there is colours, beauty and benevolence. The charm of Hydra is accentuated by the fact that the island is closed to any kind of motorised vehicles. Enjoy!
