Friends recommended Hydra as a true break from the excitement of places like Santorini and Mykonos. The fact that there are no cars and everything is transported by cart is extremely special in the world, where we take car transport for granted as a norm. I had the most amazing stay in Hydra and I loved the Mistral Hotel. The staff there are great, the rooms are beautiful and the location is perfect on the island. Vlichos Beach was beautiful and the restaurant up the hill was amazing. In general, local food is great on Hydra. There is nothing I can put into words, we don't have anything that tastes like that in America.
