Agistri Guide, Greece: Guide to the island of Agistri, Saronic

Agistri is a small island –8 square miles- ideal for those who enjoy walking around beautiful landscapes and peaceful environments. Usually many people come from the major island of Aegina, at 5 miles away, as well as from Athens.

When using the fast catamaran and ferry services, the trip from Athens takes less than an hour, while in the regular ferries it takes two hours. In the case of Aegina, it is also possible to use water taxis.

Although Agistri welcomes lots of tourists every year, it still keeps its ancient traditions and its calm atmosphere. In addition, the island counts on some great locations to explore. In its interior area, the fragrance of the paradise-like pine forests and their views can be experienced and enjoyed, especially in spring.

Another possibility may be to part from the town of Skala to the village of Limenaria, passing all the way across the island and also to the desert beach of Aponissos. Apart from being very relaxing, this trip provides many picturesque scenes
