Agistri Churches: Information about the churches of Agistri Greece, Saronic

The beautiful island of Agistri is located in the Saronic Gulf in Greece, at only 4 kilometres from Aegina Island, and at 30 kilometres from Piraeus. It offers a great number of churches, dating from the past century and before.

As most churches on Agistri are quite well preserved, they really catch the visitor’s attention. Tourists enjoy visiting the churches scattered all around Agistri Island, and admire the icons and awesome frescoes
The Cathedral is at the centre of Milos in a populated location, surrounded by restaurants, taverns, bars, and even supermarkets and excellent bakeries.

A tavern, a general store, and an olive mill are an essential part of this picturesque village, which holds an awesome church with a central golden dome dominating the whole church scene. Visitors really love the view and the spiritual atmosphere of the place.
Agia Kyriaki

Thus, most of the Saints honoured on Agistri belong to the Orthodox Greek Church, so most chapels, churches and cathedrals are dedicated to these Orthodox

The most visited ones are Agion Panton Church near Milos town, the cathedral in Milos, Agii Anargyroi in Skala, Agia Kyriaki and Zoodochos Pigi church.
There is a big white-domed church located close to Skala’s sandy beach. The view from a distance is simply fascinating. It may become crowded during weekends, and especially during Greek religious festivities.

The view of Skala bay and the village with its impressive church really catches the visitor attention. The churches mentioned, along with most of the rest on Agistri, belong to the Orthodox Greek Church, the official religion in Greece.

The celebration of Easter is especially remarkable, and many tourists take the opportunity to visit the place in those special days.

Those who are fond of visiting religious and architectural monuments won’t certainly regret visiting the many golden domed churches on Agistri, such as the ones closed to Marisa beach or in Limenaria.
