Villages: Tourist village but traditional

Last year at the end of season we stayed at Nidri, a beautiful fishing village in Lefkada. The hotel offered lovely views to the harbor and the streets were full of tourists. You will find plenty of waterfront restaurants serving the best fish food and the surrounding atmosphere will captivate you. We did a lot of shopping, there are dozens of local shops and chic boutiques to buy lovely gifts ...

Villages: Unique historic town

As much as I love Crete from the people to their whole way of life, I have to say that Rethymnon Town is definitely the winner. I was there two years ago visiting a friend, I stayed for a week only to realize that this is the perfect place to stay. The town is loud, actually vibrant is the right word to say with quiet alleys and picturesque corners. At the center, you will see plenty of Venetia...

Villages: Loved the squares with fountains

This is a small town with character! Of course it is dominated by Meteora and obviously it owes all its prosperity to these giant rocks. Very touristic place with hotels and taverns that work all year. It must be one of the few places in Greece that has tourism all year and consider it is not close to sea, it is in the middle of the mainland. The good thing is the architecture with the small ro...

Villages: Bit far from action centres

I visited Samos two years ago. I knew in advance that it is a big island, so we decided to rent a car to make a tour around the villages. We stayed in Karlovassi, a nice village but a bit far from the action centres of Samos. During our tour, we saw a lot of historical buildings and some well-preserved mansions t...

Villages: Sweet memory from a hot noon

The Neoclassical Library in the main square is probably the most scenic picture of Kremasti. A tiny village with stone houses, very typical of the other villages in Rhodes, it distinguishes only for the beautiful library. In the square, there is also a lovely cafe that offered us much comfort under the tree shade in a hot summer afternoon. Thanks a lot! we have sweet memories of this afternoon ...

Villages: Village of the gods

This village is perfect. It has retained its "Greekness" and yet many foreigners have bought homes here and happily become part of the friendly community. Mina's taverna, in the village square, is one of the best on the island. The views are wonderful and the easy access to Hora and the best beaches makes it all the more attractive.

Villages: Unique sunset view

The picturesque village of Molivos is crowned with a medieval fortress. This is a historical monument that stands on top of a hill. It is a strong characteristic of the island attracting thousands of visitors every year. The castle is an adornment for the village and it was built in the Byzantine times. It is definitely worth a walk through the three gates and along its walls. We were impressed...

Villages: Place with strong tradition

My origin is from Anogia, a great village in Rethymno. I can easily write a thousand things about this place but I'll have to keep it short. Anogia is a traditional, charming village with a powerful and rich history. The route will amaze you as you cross the villages and the winding roads. The air coming from the mountains is so fresh and clean, the ideal environment for all ages. While you ent...

Villages: What an amazing view

This is truly one of the most important sights in Zagoria plus it is among the best gorges in Europe. The gorge runs from Monodendri to the village of Vikos. The locals told us that this is the best way to cross it but we were not ready for such a dangerous operation. We took our (rental) bikes and went riding to the famous Monastery of Agia Paraskevi which is abandoned today. It offers a breat...

Villages: An amazing trip to the past

My grandmother was from Paleochora, a village in Chania. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to travel there, till last summer, when my cousin and I decided we should go. We arrived at the port of Chania early in the morning, the weather was so nice that day.
Villages: Perfect place

I have been coming to Paros for over 30 years. Parikia is a fantastic town, with everything you need for a great holiday. Brilliant Restaurants (Hibiscus, Paros Family Taverna), lovely beaches- Krios is great for kids (fab taverna, clean beach, new clean toilets) and has free sunloungers. If you can, stay in the Old Town, it is the most convienient and the prettiest.

Villages: Hospitable place

Ierapetra consists of two district parts, the Old Town and Kato Mera. Take a walk there and you will notice that the character and style of the neighborhood has been retained till today. Near the city of Iepapetra there are two beaches which I really loved. The first one is very close to the city centre, thus it provides certain benefits to visitors. The other is called Koutsounari, not so crow...

Villages: In the heart of the town

Plaka is one of the most picturesque and oldest districts of Athens. It is characterized by the several monuments that carry an important history. The historic neighborhoods of Plaka are actually a symbol of authenticity in Athens, you certainly think about it as you walk around.
Villages: The safe city centre

Indeed Syntagma is the centre of Athens. Everything, from restaurants to theatres, museums and ancient sites are only a walking distance away from Syntagma. Of course, the subway is also a great help. Best subway I've used in Europe, large clean trains, security people and timetables every 5 min.
Villages: A boat trip away

A lovely village with small beach in front. We were told that the road to Diafani is bad, so went by boat from Pigadia, the capital of Karpathos.
