The trip was very enjoyable although the road was not very good. The beach actually has crystal waters, party ambiance and no vegetation. It is a bit noisy and quiet expensive too. Its blue waters were my favorite thing. The charter flight from Rome was very convenient and in time. The island was too much fun, all parties and dances. Pierros is the best club to go. The only thing that bothered me was that I rented a car when I arrived on Mykonos and it was too expensive. I wll not make the same mistake again in the future. Moreover,...

General: More things needed

Before getting on the island, I had a general idea on the place. I had read about good and hot weather, beaches, blue sky and traditional Greek white houses. The best beach I went to was Elia. Mykonos has beautiful beaches with clean waters to swim in. However, there are some things missing from Mykonos: most beaches have no public changing and shower rooms, there are no frequent bus services t...

General: I recommend it without reserve!

I have travelled for 12 years (5 yrs on ships) and I have seen close to 100 countries, but the Greek islands especially Mykonos cater for tourism and at the same time have managed to keep their identity. Mykonos has the perfect balance of all things for a holiday. Perfect beaches –the northern ones are the best, but something should be done like a weekly cleaning (water with too many plastic ba...

General: After holiday you really miss this island

In my opinion, people living in Mykonos are very polite, don't steal, cook good dishes and have very clean areas. And Mykonos lives all day and everyday. I am Turkish and I love Greek food and alcohols. Also tavernas all around the island are excellent. You can stay all night long there. I was very excited when I shared my food with Petros the pelican. It is easy for the young set to get to Mykonos Town or Paradise Beach for the evening clubs, and relax during the day. For young adults traveling there, staying right in Mykonos Town is best. They can take a 10 minute bus ride to the beach during the day, ...

Food: Better food in Mykonos Town waterfront

Food was acceptable. Kosmoplaz had a very acceptable breakfast included. The other beach front restaurants were acceptable, but not great. Try to get a hotel on the beach. Mykonos is hilly, and your hotel, just 200 m from the beach, could be 200m almost straight up a hill. Kosmoplaz Hotel was on the beach with really pleasant and helpful staff. The rooms were clean, the a/c worked well, and there was plenty of hot water.

There are plenty of cabs if your hotel does not provide pick up transportation. It was about 10 euro to Platis Yialos (also known as Platis Gialos). It's where they go to have a Mardi Gras experience. The main town is a cluster of tiny shops and winding streets and it's easy to get lost, which is part of the fun. The restaurants and hotels are more expensive than other islands, but it it's worth it if you want to experience the islands as the Greeks do. The island of Delos is a short tri...

Villages: A very relaxing and quiet area

Hi, my name is Karin Heyboer and I'm South African. I'm 25 years old. I visited Greece and the island of Mykonos.
I was staying in Agios Ioannis, which I reached by boat. The trip lasted for about 1 minute. Also the roads to the village were good. Only some sharp turns but good quality roads.
The bus also was good because it comes on time.

In the summer of 2006 I went to Mykonos Island in Greece. I was staying near Mykonos Town, and rode to Agios Stefanos beach within 5 minutes by a scooter as it is very close. While I was there I visited Paradise beach. I went by foot as my accommodation was near the beach. It took me only 3 minutes to get there. The condition of the road was fine and I really enjoyed it. As I stayed in the area I knew how to get there, so I didn't have to use a map.
