General: Feel the unspoilt area

When I arrived in Lesvos, I though I was in Peloponnese, not like other Greek islands! Definitely you need a car. The majority of tourists that I have met were repeat travellers to the island and could not just get enough of it. You will not find better traditional food and olive oil in Greece. Apart from beautiful, is a very big island and you definitely need a car to get around. If we didn't have our car, we wouldn't have seen all these things. Beaches: Have many days to see all

Lesvos is a very big island and you have so many things to see that a week is not enough. We didn't have the chance to see most of the beaches and buses are not that helpful. Villages are very quaint on Lesvos and beaches are almost empty, lovely. Plenty of sea urchins, etc, so bring suitable swimming footwear. Put more signs remembering people to keep beaches clean. People are friendly, there is not much evidence of customer service though. Prefer smaller taverns to over touristy places.

Lesvos is a huge island. You need at least two weeks to see all of it. A lot of beaches and even more small villages. Agios Isidoros is a very long and sandy beach. We stayed in a camping site close to it. We rarely went there in the daytime because it was very crowded. I preferred going there in the evening, just after the sunset. To me this was the best time to go for swimming since we were almost alone.
