There is a variety of beautiful beaches and countryside on Kythira. For me, the best beaches were Kapsali and Paleopolis. The villages and the beaches (mostly Chalkos beach) in Kythira are so beautiful. Nightlife is calm. It doesn't have many places to go, but wherever you are the view and the people make your holiday a dream. Excellent island for some relaxing holidays.

Melidoni beach is situated in the west coast of the island, it is a special place with gold sand, clear water and a good kantina. The road for the beach is not asphalted and in some places not in perfect conditions, but at the end you'll find a spot of Paradise.

Beaches: Lykodimou quiet and private

For me the best beach on Kythira is Lykodimou beach. It is actually a small cove, not a large beach, but this makes Lykodimou special and very quiet. I belive this beach is ideal for couples. You will get all the quiet and privacy you need there. The blue water and the soft sand will definitely relax you.

The beauty of the Island is in its rugged beauty / simplicity and not at all as busy commercial as other tourist islands. The food in the tavernas at Agia Pelagia was remarkably delicious. Also visited Kapsali where we had heard that the fish would be excellent but..we were very disappointed leaving most of the food on the plates.

The attractions on Kythira are of very high level, classified as beautiful, one of the most beautiful places of Europe. It's a shame that the place of Paliochora is closed and in decandence! They should maintein in better condition the archeological and historical site, Paliochiora first of all, its something amazing, fantastic... and closed!
