General: A paradise reserved for only a few

Kea is not much known to foreigners, it is like a paradise reserved for the Greeks only! I spent a week there two summers ago and had the chance to discover a really beautiful island! From one side, it is a shame that Kea is not much advertised to develop tourism and support the locals, but on the other side, it is nice that there is such a pure place so close to Athens (only one hour by ferry ...

General: Complete relaxation

I last went to Kea a weekend in mid September. The Athenians who have summer houses on the island had left and the island was starting to get its winter paces. This was my second time on Kea, the first was a couple of years ago. I didn't swim, just walked around the cobbled paths of Ioulida and did some trekking till the Lion Statue. I needed some rest and I got it. Kea is one of the few island...

Beaches: A nice protected cove

On Kea, we stayed in a nice pension close to Koundouros beach. It had nothing to do with the crowded, organized beaches of Mykonos, Rhodes or other Greek islands. However, Kea and its beaches are beautiful in their own, quiet way. Koundouros is a long beach with clean water. It is protected from the winds, as the beach is actually a cove. Not dangerous at all for the children. Also many taverns...

General: Perfect quiet

Kea is a peaceful island. I was lucky to find it in a tourist guide and spend some great vacations. There weren't of course much choices for nightlife and extreme parties, but I prefer it quiet. You will find great beaches there and lovely taverns all around the island. Just check out the ferry crossings, particularly if you are arriving very early on Sunday morning, like we did, as we had to w...

Villages: More like a village

The Chora of Kea does not seem like a capital but more of a village. It has many rough and narrow streets, small grocery shops and a nice ruined Castle. You will find many taverns at the port and many studios. Clubs are few in Ioulida. The people are generally friendly, but most of them are old and do not seem to want tourists very much, they want their peace.

General: Orchos beach was my favourite

I discovered Greek islands a couple of years ago and since then I try to come whenever possible. This summer I went to Kea, among some other islands and I spent four days there, staying in Korresia. I enjoyed the great waters of almost all beaches but I found especially beautiful the one at Orchos, as it is more isolate due to the steep and long road to it and it has no taverns or shops. We re...

General: Kea is a relaxing place

I spend last August in Greece, in island Kea. I took the ferry from the port of Lavrio, the trip lasted only an hour or so. I stayed with my friends in Yaliskari, the beach was really great with lots of people, clear waters and a perfect sunset to the bay!The beach of Ksyla was also wonderful, with sand, very exotic.. I also found tasty the local dish of pork meat, tomatoes and eggs mixed toget...

General: An island that worths the visit

I went to Kea a few years ago and really liked this place. It is located not so far from Athens. Actually just 1 hour ferry from the port of Lavrion. The port of Lavrion is not so far from the airport of Athens and we took a cab. The island is one of the closests islands of the Cyclades from Athens and yet it is not crowded with many foreign people. The population is mainly greek which was much...
