We liked Ithaca because it was not the typical Greek destination. If you are looking for sandy beaches and heavy nightlife, don't even think about it. Excellent sea food on Ithaca and less expensive than I expected. Definitely try local spinach pie. Best restaurants Chani (great view to Kefalonia and Vathi) and Liberty Restaurant (located in Vathi next to Omirikon Hotel).

After a week in busy Kefalonia, we needed a few days in Ithaca to relax. This was our second trip to Ithaca as the first time we didn't have the chance to see all of it. Frikes is one of the best beaches on Ithaca. Picturesque and clean with a wonderful, sandy coast. Better go early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid much crowd. You will love this beach, it is my best memory from Ithaca. It was just sad to see so many abandoned cars on the way to Frikes, please get rid of them, as they spoil the whole romantic atmosphere.

The best beach on Ithaca!! Very green and very clean!! When we went there, it was not very crowded so we liked it better. If you have a car, you may face a problem with parking, so you would better go by scooter. Also take flippers with you because the seafloor is rocky and you may hurt your feet.

It was my wife's wish to spend our summer holidays in Ithaca. It was actually a green island but too quiet, there was no particular nightlife. We went by boat from Patras and I have to say that the vessel was old and the port of Ithaca needed reconstruction. The beaches were nice and clean but quite rocky. Many interesting things to see for such a small island. And its extremely beautiful. Loved the monastery of Katharon. There are small beaches everywhere which are very beautiful, clean and peaceful.
