Kefalonia: Kouzina Taverna Trapezaki

We have eaten at the Koyzina Taverna since they opened their restaurant - 3 years ago. The taverna is run by the owners, Stelios and Denise, who always make you feel very welcome. The tradional Greek food they serve is excellent.

Mykonos has the aspects which will suit a lot of holiday makers, quieter beaches and shining white villages or busy party beaches and large hotels. We chose a quiet cheap hoilday during the day, enjoyed a half day excursion to Delos close by and took an easy bus ride into town for food and clubs. Beautiful island with some sandy beaches. Vardiola is considered to be one of the best restaurants of Zakynthos. We visited it three times. It is within ten minutes drive from Tsilivi on the way to Alykes, there are signs on the road that provide you with directions. There is a small beach with some grass and sun chairs. We stayed at Assos a few days and we visited 3 tavernas. The best is Nefeli-Anait restaurant on the central beach. The best restaurant view is from North-Assos restaurant. Some days they have live music.

Unfortunately the offered food was mainly low quality. The harbour area in KOS is overloaded with tourist and also with restaurants. So the restaurants mainly make quick and low quality food. I think you will find good food everywhere in Mykonos, but the restaurants in Little Venice have the best and most special view. From all the places I've visited in Greece (more than 20), I had the best meals in Kalymnos. Ingredients were of excellent quality and we found some strange yet delicious recipes, such as squids stuffed with tomatoes and rice and a nice omelette with tomatoes, onions, eggs and green pepper. I think the best restaurants are those close to the beaches, you will find the most fresh fish there.

I had the best meal on Galissas, grilled fresh fish especially cooked by Mr Giannis with green peppers, onion and oreganum. I couldn't stop tasting my figures. I was going there every day and eat the same food for three days. Excellent!! I don't remember the name of the tavern now, something with a mermaid... In Tinos, I loved the small restaurants by the beach. You could always find a delicious dish and a welcoming onwer there. Local wine was excellent. Excellent sea food on Ithaca and less expensive than I expected. Definitely try local spinach pie. Best restaurants Chani (great view to Kefalonia and Vathi) and Liberty Restaurant (located in Vathi next to Omirikon Hotel).

There are some very good restaurants on the island. The best are the old traditional tavernas in the back streets of the town (eg. Folia). There are also lovely high-standard international style restaurants in the town, but unfortunately some of them are a disgrace, especially for the food. What I enjoyed most in Arachova was the traditional recipes I tasted. There, you will find all kind of pies, from the traditional cheese and vegetable pies to zucchini and meat pies with a lot of spices.
