Halkidiki: Great natural colours

On my trip to Halkidiki, I was invited to stay at a friend of mine in a village called Vourvourou. It is located at the second peninsula of Halkidiki, called Sithonia. This place combines perfect the mountain above the village with the bushy trees and the blue green, magnificent water of the beach. Between these tw...

Corfu: Take boats to remote beaches

Paleokastritsa of Corfu is absolutely gorgeous. We spent 4 glorious days there swimming in breathtakingly crystal clear waters and visiting secluded and beautiful beaches. Our hotel, the Akrotiri Beach Hotel, provided good accommodation and our room overlooked a beautiful bay. Only one bad thing, but I don't think it is a fault of the hotel: a couple of mornings we had no running water in the h...

Lefkada: One of the most beautiful in the world

The Egremni beach was absolutely breathtaking... Blue crystalclear water, mountains behind you and the best barman I have ever met (He gives you drinks for free)... I spent 10 day on the island and I saw a lot of beautiful beaches and I was overwhelmed by the contrast between the mountains and the sea... I know for sure where will I spent my next holiday...

Halkidiki: No sights or extra services

The car trip to Halkidiki was pleasant and easy, although border crossing to Greece could be better organized, like a separate lane for EU citizens.
The region was lovely, we stayed in Vourvourou in a family hotel and the owner was very kind. Beaches in Halkidiki are good for families with little children, in gen...

Thassos: Excellent place

Thassos is one of the excellent place for visitors in Greece. It is not expensive, also very peacefull place.
I recommend to visit Potos and also the monastery and the monastery's beach. It is about 15 km far from Thassos, you will see a wonderfull beach and also a monastery very close to the beach.
If you like nightlife, Potos also is a good option.

Chania: Love this healthy life attitude

This was our second time in Crete and we mostly wanted a place to swim, relax and do nothing. The first time we had drived from one side of Crete to the other and had seen all the major towns and resorts, ancient sites and beautiful beaches, but this time we just needed to sleep a lot and swim. Our hotel was in Maleme, a nice and quiet village close about an hour from Chania, so that we wouldn'...

Rhodes: Extend opening hours of monuments

The trip to Rhodes was very long (18 hours by ferry) but fortunately there were no delays. Last summer, we had travelled by ferry again and the departure was 2 hours late. We had been more tired of the delay than the trip. Fortunately, this time all went good.

We love all the greek islands but and we are coming for relaxing every year. This time we were looking for something more traditiona...

Corfu: Ypsos in general

I have just come back from a week holiday in Ypsos Corfu, which I really enjoyed. It was a bit quite for mid June but then with the general state of the Euro and Economy that was to be expected. The village was really nice with a good beach and very clean and tidy. I stayed at the Yiannis hotel/apartments where the room was very comfortable and roomy, the staff were very good and nothing was to...

Santorini: Red Beach very dirty

Red beach was very dirty. There was no rubbish bins and nothing there to sit on like most of the other beaches. I did not mind the walk down to the beach but was disappointed when I got there. I only stayed a short time and went to a cleaner beach. Very disappointing as I had been told so much about how beautiful Red Beach was, but found that it had not been cleaned up for a very long time or m...

Karpathos: Spoiled beaches due to umbrellas and sunbeds

Unfortunatly every single beach in the island is full with umbrellas and sunbeds. Of course this is not a nice view for people who admire that otherwise beautiful island. I have been many times in Karpathos but I am not going there again due to ugly environment of the beaches with umbrellas and sunbeds. Even we did not have space for us who do not wish sunbeds. The most tragic is that it happen...

Lesvos: Have many days to see all

Lesvos is a very big island and you have so many things to see that a week is not enough. We didn't have the chance to see most of the beaches and buses are not that helpful. We spent our week on Molyvos and focused to explore the close area, so we missed nice spots on the sourthern side, like Plomari and Vatera. Anyway, what we managed to see was nice. Beaches of Molyvos and Petra was wonderfu...

Kalymnos: Get a sponge for souvenir

We had been to Kalymnos again more than 10 years ago. Greece has changed a lot over the last years. Ferries have improved a lot and hotels offer more facilities. In Kalymnos, we stayed at Massouri. This is a lovely small village with clean sea, not much crowded and not much isolate, The middle is always the perfect. In Massouri, we always had dinner at Kelly's restaurant. It has delicious dishe...

Halkidiki: Easy and pleasant place

Easy, wonderful and pleasant Halkidiki...

I like Greek villages very much. Although the villages in Halkidiki are mostly resorts-like type, someone can always find places where the authentic athmosphere of the native Greeks grips you and you can feel in white and blue :) One of my favourite villages are placed in the eastern part of Sythonia (Vourvourou) and Athos (Ouranoupolis). As I have ...

Heraklion: Much crowded and noisy

We had at first booked a hotel room in Malia for 8 nights but after two days there, I couldn't find some peace. All you see is drunken British with a beer at hand. It is really a shame because the area around is so nice amd the beach is so clean. We immediately packed our things and looked for a hotel room somewhere else, in the close villages.
