Beaches: Gorgeous

A gorgeous beach! Not that impressive as Porto Katsiki and Egremni, but still gorgeous! Waves are not that strong compared to the previous beaches, so it is a good beach for family. So large in length that no matter how many swimmers, it will never be crowded! Above Kathisma, there is a nice pool bar, but couldn't stop wondering why people go to the pool when the beach is at their feet?

Beaches: Calm with the wind

Not a popular beach in Andros, actually the most popular beaches are between Batsi and Gavrio. But a very calm place to enjoy a coffee by the sea and to do windsurfing. There are one or two windsurfing centres there and the wind is pretty good. Not a surfer myself, but my friend is and he enjoyed it!

Beaches: A good tavern to eat in Nas

If you go to Ikaria and you are in the area of Armenistis-Nas, don't fail to try the tavern Naiades, in Nas. You find it on the right side, coming from Armenistis, at the entrance of the village. It is a family-run tavern and has a homely atmosphere. Here you can taste traditional Greek and Ikarian food with high quality and very low prices. The owners are very kind and warm people and every di...

Beaches: History and beauty all in one

Alyki Beach is fantastic, crystal clear water on both sides of a little stretch of land, excellent fish tavernas, relaxed atmosphere, but most of all, archaelogical ruins you can wander amongst undisturbed by time... snorkel in what was once marble shipping area, remains of Christian basilicas... you can almost imagine St Paul landing here, speaking here to the people... for lovers of history, ...

Beaches: From Zefiria to the old sulfur mine

Important notice:
1) you need a 4x4 car
2) you must drive slowly

What determines the value of the run (6 km) is the end: the scenario of the old sulfur mine (Tiafes) at Paliorema, with the port of loading, the small wagons for mining, railroads, dormitories and ancillary buildings of stone. The mine finished work in 1958. To get there, follow the road along the beach of Achivadolimni, and ...

Beaches: To Cape Vani and the old iron mine

Important notice:
1) you need a 4x4 car
2) you must drive slowly

The run (20 Km) conducts to Cape Vani, where there is the old iron and manganese mine, that has worked from 1890 to the 1928.
The landscape is hard, rocks and low vegetation, full of policrome stones.
From Vani you see, on the other side, Tripiti and Plaka, with the Kastro on the ridge of the hill.
You depart just before ...

Beaches: Nice view to the bay

Almost a secret beach on the way from Parikia to Pounda, where you get the ferry to Antiparos. We saw it from the hill with some ancient remains outside Parikia and followed the road there. There is a nice restaurant there just by the sea with delicious food. The beach is sandy and you get to see nice views of Parikia Bay. We liked this beach much better than the crowded Pounda, where there was...

Beaches: Will enjoy more in low season

This one of the most beautiful beaches in Rhodes, my friends! It took its name because this is where Saint Paul landed on Rhodes to preach Christianity. This lovely beach with the soft sand gets very busy in high season, but if you go in early June like we did, you will love it even more. Busy crowds won't disturb you, only few tourists and locals will be on the beach and all the umbrellas will...

Beaches: Crete my first love

Crete was my first Greek island I visited. I remember that already at the airport when I just got off the plane, I knew that it landed in a right place. The road from Heraklion to Adelianos Kampos (because that's where our hotel was) was a series of ever new delight. These views, they passed along the way beaches, mountains and of the water-beautiful color :).

Adelianos Kampos proved to be ...

Beaches: Beach paradise

We didn't stay more than a week in Rethymno but I was lucky enough to visit some of the greatest beaches in Crete. One of them is Preveli beach, a unique sandy beach covered with a palm forest that makes it look so exotic. The most interesting thing about the beach is that a river ends there. This forms a small lake before it is shed to the sea. Preveli is a very popular destination because thi...

Beaches: Very relaxing vibes

The second time I went to Pelion with my friends, we stayed in a great resort called Horefto. It has a long sandy beach named after the village. It is an area of lush greenery that goes all the way till the amazing white sand with the blue water. The peaceful environment offers a sense of relaxation and refreshment. It is an amazing experience to dive into these crystalline waters.

Beaches: Enjoy the silence

Loved the fact that Porto Roma was not developed, even better it was very quiet, the idyllic place for some privacy. I saw a lot of families coming there, as the shallow waters are very safe for children. The beach is small and it is a tourist attraction but it never gets really crowded (at least before noon). The crystal water combined with the green landscape offer a feeling of refreshment.
